Love Is Not Enough

Do you feel disappointed and like a failure because you love your partner but you still have many painful conflicts?

If you answered yes to the above question, know that you are not alone in your frustrations. Somehow, most of us have mistakenly been led to believe that love is enough to sustain an intimate relationship. The truth is that it takes much more than love to be in harmony with another.

As a practicing psychotherapist, I have counseled many individuals and couples who were having problems in their relationships. In every case, when I helped the clients release their fears, hurts, anger, and resentments, they instantly were in touch with their love feelings. The love was always there underneath all their pain. Love was never the problem. And love was not enough.

What else does it take to experience harmonious, fulfilling relationships? First of all, I discovered that the most important ingredient is self-love. We have heard or read about the popular concept that women (or men) love too much. Quite the contrary, I have found that the real problem is that people do not love themselves enough. Therefore, with low self-esteem they are willing to put up with unhealthy relationships.

To help people to create what they want in their lives, I developed a process I call HART, which stands for Holistic And Rapid Transformation. You may want to try this HART exercise to check out your self-esteemyour foundation for a successful relationship.

Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to relax. Then rate your self-esteem by seeing or sensing a number from one to ten, with ten being high. Now imagine that you are seeing an image of yourself standing in front of you. Tell the image of yourself what he/she needs to do in order to raise his/her self-esteem. Now visualize yourself acting out in the future what you need to do in order to experience more self-love. Take two deep breaths and open your eyes.

You may want to write down the information you just received. You may also want to plan a time when you can follow-up on your suggestion to help you raise your self-esteem. Finally, congratulate yourself for being willing to tune into your inner wisdom, and to explore some solutions.

Other ways to help you love yourself include reading self-help books, listening to self-help tapes/CDs, attending workshops and support groups, and if necessary seeking professional counseling. It takes a lot of courage to say, I need help, and to reach out for it.

The second necessary component in a successful relationship is good communication. If you are struggling in your interactions with others, there is a good chance that you can use improvement in this area.

Make a commitment to yourself to learn better ways to express your thoughts and feelings, and to solve your problems. Your investment in the time, energy, and money will have excellent returns. With constructive communication, and with self love, you are well on your way to having the relationship you desire.

Other valuable pieces to the puzzle are two individuals having similar morals, values, interests, and goals. These are important elements to explore before you commit yourself to marriage.

However, sometimes these factors change later on in life and cause irresolvable conflicts. For example, one partner may change their religious or spiritual beliefs, and find out that their partner is unwilling to follow. In those cases, it is important to honor each others choices, and support each other to pursue his/her individual patheven if it means separation.

Still another ingredient necessary to make relationships work I will express with the following saying: People who grow together stay together. Often clients had serious marital problems because one of them chose to focus on their growth, while the other remained stagnant. As a result, they found themselves in two different places, and were no longer compatible. Love was not enough to keep them together.

The following brief questionnaire may help you to decide whether to commit to marriage, or to become aware of areas you may need to strengthen with your loved one. Place a check before the pieces which you feel confident that you have in your relationship.

___I love myself (my self-esteem is at least an eight).

___I love my partner (who also has a self-esteem of eight or higher).

___My partner and I have good communication, and we work out win-win solutions.

___We have the same morals and values.

___We share similar interests.

___We are best friends.

___We have similar goals.

___We are both growing, open to changing, and exploring our full potential.

Know that you deserve to have the loving, fulfilling relationship that you desire. Go for it!

Notebook Buying Tips

Why notebook became so popular? It has been estimated that notebook sales has increased an average of 20% per year in the United States alone. Among the many advantages it offers, portability is one of the main reason people end up making a purchase of it. However before any purchase is made, other features should be considered as well.

Notebook was first made available in the early eighties. Although much heavier and bulkier than today's notebooks, it had the unique portability feature that put this innovative product in a class by itself. Although not much of a commercial success then, it gave the computer industry a goal to pursue in manufacturing this item with better weight, size and performance ratio and making one of today's most wanted computer hardware.

Notebook size has got much smaller, however big enough to make one feel very comfortable in handling and operating computer related tasks. One can find it in sizes best categorized as: 1 - Tablet Pc has the size of paper tablet and weighs no more than 4 pounds; 2 - Ultra Portable is a little bigger than Tablet Pc and weighs around 4 pounds, no internal CD or DVD drive, display of 12 inches or smaller; 3 - Thin and Light is a mid-size notebook, 10-14" x 10", 1 to 1.5 thick, and weighs around 7 pounds, wireless network capability, 14-inch displays, combo CD-RW/DVD; 4 - Desktop replacement is the largest category of notebooks, more than 12 x 10" and weighs more than 7 pounds, 15-17 inches displays or larger, wireless network capability, combo CD-RW/DV.

Also an important feature one should look for is performance. Notebooks provide very close performance in comparison with traditional desktop computers, and should handle all computer related tasks with great ease. Whenever purchasing a notebook, make sure it has the latest cpu model, large ram memory and hard disk space. Notebook performance is directly related with cpu clock, ram memory and hard disk space. For these items, big is never enough.

Another feature one should look for is the dvd player. It can come in handy for entertainment purposes, enabling one to watch movies while traveling. Wireless connection is also a feature to look for in a notebook. Some notebooks feature an infrared port, which can be used to connect a mobile phone. Also there are other wireless technologies such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, which allows mobile phone, printers and PDA to be connected at certified public and private network. The ability to have a mobile connection is definitely a plus in today's connected world.

Expansion capability for notebooks can be done thru the use of plug-in pc cards. Although there is a new standard called ExpressCard, which is smaller and faster plug-in card that provides more features for multimedia tasks.

Notebooks have certainly become an item required for one's mobile computer related tasks, whether it is used for public, private, personal or professional purposes. Its portability and small size make an attractive all around computer hardware item. For those looking for mobile computer hardware, notebooks can certainly become a good solution at affordable prices.

Imagination: The Most Powerful Force To Regain Your Health

Albert Einstein is quoted as saying that imagination is the greatest creative force. The important words here are: greatest creative force. He claims that its imagination! Not education? Nor money? Nor luck?

Another author, Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich, believed that imagination is the most marvelous, miraculous, powerful force we have at our disposal. He doesnt state that its our mind, or our ability to think, but the ability to use our imagination. You would do well to remember that Napoleon Hill was an advisor to two U.S. presidents, was commissioned by the great and wealthy Andrew Carnegie to teach people about making their dreams come true, and has been thanked by many of the greatest people around the world for the success he helped them achieve. People like F. W. Woolworth (founder of Woolworths), Woodrow Wilson (former U.S. President), George Eastman (founder of Kodak), W. M. Wrigley, JR. (Wrigleys), and many others have used his teachings to manifest their dreams.

Imagination is the force that takes you to places you have never been.

So how can your imagination assist you in regaining your health?

Very many famous people have used their imagination to create an amazing reality. Bill Gates first imagines his products before they become actual software that we rely on. Many of the worlds greatest people started with nothing and built empires. They had a dream. And the universe conspired, as it always does, to let them experience their imagination. The universe always lets you experience your imagination, whatever it may be.

The Bible says As a man thinketh, so shall he become. It also says Without vision we perish.

Your minds images are literally the blueprint from which your world is built.

Your mind is infinite. What are your limits? What are limits, except those that you say are so? Why else would two different people have different limits?

Life is images of the mind, expressed. Life uses your thoughts as the instructions by which to create your reality in the material world. The force of Life makes known your thoughts to yourself and everyone else by forming them into experiences and objects that can be experienced, here in the physical world. You experience your own thoughts so that you may know which ones are suitable and which ones are not. That is how you know yourself, that is how you experience your self, and that is how you grow.

You have true free will. This free will is truly free because of the fact that all of it is acted upon without filtering or favoring. Free will is truly free because of the fact that it actually gets results all the time, not just some of the time, and it gets them exactly.

Your ideas, visions and dreams reveal today what youll become and achieve. You can predict your outer life tomorrow by looking at your inner thoughts today. You can change your tomorrow by changing your thoughts today.

As you think, there you find yourself. You attract the people that have something to teach you in line with your thoughts, people who have something to learn from you in line with your thoughts, and you repel those who have nothing more to learn from you and give you in line with your thoughts. The same goes for places and conditions, situations and environments. Listen to the FREE audio CD on www.thescienceofbeingwell.biz for an understanding on how to adapt the 5 Secrets of Creating Health to your own life.

Many things influence your imagination past fears, desires, poor mental training, lack of awareness, sub-personalities, lack of goals any much more. But anything that influences your imagination is under your control. You can stop it simply by becoming aware of it and releasing it. And this is where awareness, consciousness, comes in as the key to clearing your mind of the debris that brings suffering to you and sabotages your success.

What goes on in your mind actually has an impact in your body. The way science has discovered it works is that the thoughts you have in your head release chemicals call neuropeptides that lock with receptors on your cells. The more happy and health-oriented thoughts you have, the more your cells receive happy neuropeptides. Then when your cells divide, they have more receptors for happy chemicals, which then strengthens them. In The Science of Being Well Home Study Course, there are many examples and explanations on how your thoughts create your health. Sometimes, health can be greatly assisted with the quality of your thoughts. Visit the site today and claim your FREE audio CD that gives you 5 Secrets To Creating Abundant Health.

The Disney Difference: How One Man Rose Above Bankruptcy And Failure To Building A Multi-billion $$

Try to imagine a world without Walt Disney. A world without his magic, optimism and childlike fantasy. Walt Disney pioneered the fields of animation, and transformed the entertainment world. He did more to touch the hearts, minds, and emotions of millions of Americans than any other person in the past century.

The Walt Disney Company - now a mega-empire whose profits (yes, profits!) are $1.3 billion - was the creation of a high school drop out who suffered bankruptcy, risked it all 4 times and suffered repeated financial and business disasters. How did one man overcome the greatest of challenges to become a legend ... a folk hero ... a master of enterprise?

Walt Disneys creative and business magic can be summarized in one word: Imagineering. The term, trademarked by Disney in 1967, combines the words "imagination" and "engineering."

Today, Walt Disneys Imagineering is the master planning, creative development, design, engineering, production, project management and research and development arm of The Walt Disney Company. A powerful insight into the Imagineering process is provided by one of Walt Disneys co-workers who pointed out there were actually three different Walts: the dreamer, the realist and the spoiler (or critic). You never knew which one was coming to a meeting.

Through the modeling technologies of NeuroLinguistic Programming (NLP), you too can cultivate the same business genius of Walt Disney. You too can learn Disneys Imagineering process to make your boldest visions into reality.

Applying the Disney Difference in Your Business:
The Benefits of the Imagineering Process

Whether you are a soloist business owner or the CEO of a multi-billion dollar corporation, Imagineering is a simple yet powerful process that can help you:

Be successful at the inner game of reaching future goals

Build powerful teams, strategic partnerships and alliances

Maximize the return and minimize the risk in new virgin situations such as launching a new product, expanding to new markets or acquiring a business

Lead and manage change throughout your organization

Develop clear compelling plans that inspire you/your team to action

Communicate and work more effectively with diverse groups of people

Ignite your creativity and problem solving capabilities

The Imagineering Process: An Overview

Whether you are an individual or a team, Imagineering involves the coordination of three hats or roles. According to Robert Dilts, NLP pioneer who modeled the Imagineering process, all three roles are critical to effective problem solving and transforming visions into reality.

The Dreamer

The dreamers role is to provide the visionary big picture with no boundaries, limitations or restraints.

The Realist

The realists role is to evaluate what is realistic, think constructively and organize action plans.

The Critic

The critics role is to test the plan, look for potential problems, difficulties and consequences. That is, what could go wrong, what is missing.

Very few individuals, teams or organizations are strong in all three roles or capabilities. What happens when one or two of these roles are missing? Do any of these sound like you or your organization?

A Dreamer without a Realist gets stuck in fantasy, a some day mentality.

A Realist without a Dreamer or Critic is like a robot. They are task masters. They are driven by to do lists.

A Critic and a Dreamer without a Realist get caught up in perpetual conflict.

A Dreamer and Realist without a Critic are an R&D department lots of prototypes but lack quality standards for success.

A Critic without a Dreamer or Realist is a Spoiler. They stop themselves even before they get started.

A Realist and Critic without a Dreamer are a Bureaucracy.

To make your dreams come true with ease, precision and passion, it is critical to master and synthesize all three Imagineering roles. Below is a peek how I work with individuals, teams and organizations in modeling Disneys Imagineering to create extraordinary business results.

Imagineering Your Business Success:
The Process for Transforming Your Dreams into Reality

Your ability to transform your business goals into reality requires mastery of the following phases of the Imagineering process.

The Dreamer: Envisioning Your Future

Walt Disneys genius always started with a dream. He would see clearly in his own mind the vision of what he wanted whether it was a theme park, a cartoon character, a movie or any of his other creative endeavors.

As the Dreamer, you want to think about your long term future, address the big picture and generate many alternatives for reaching your goal. The primary focus is on the what of your idea or vision.

To model the Dreamer in Walt Disney, you must ask yourself such questions as:

What do I want in an ideal world?

What is the purpose of this project or goal?

What are the benefits?

What will be the impact once my goal is achieved?

What alternative strategies will help me get there?

Key Points: Always state the goal in positive terms and establish the purpose and payoffs of reaching your goal. Think big very big.

The Realist: Defining the Plan

The purpose of the Realist is to turn the dream into a workable plan. While wearing the Realist hat, you want to act as if the dream is possible and identify steps, time frames and milestones for getting there.

Your focus needs to be more action-oriented, on the how -- ie., procedures and operations -- for implementing your plan or idea.

To model the Realist in Walt Disney, you must ask yourself such questions as:

How specifically will the idea be implemented? What will be the first step? second step? third step? By when?

How will I know when the goal has been achieved?

How will I get the resources (people, money, skills, etc.) I need to reach my goal?

Key Points: Create a storyboard of your plan by finding simple images to represent the steps required for reaching your goal or dream. Disney developed the very powerful process of storyboarding in 1928 and is now used by many successful businesses, such as GE.

The Critic:: Identifying Potential Problems

The purpose of the Critic is to evaluate the proposed plan and look for potential problems and missing links. The Critic role must follow the Dreamer and the Realist in this process.

The Critic identifies external factors or individuals that may influence the outcome of the plan (either positively or negatively). The primary purpose of the Critic is to focus on what if concerns, along with solutions to avoid them.

To model the Critic in Walt Disney, you must ask yourself such questions as:

What if I cant find the necessary resources or funds to implement my plan?

What if my competitors _____ ?

What if I dont meet the plans milestones? How will that effect costs? Time and resource requirements?

What if certain people object to my plan or can negatively impact its success? How will I handle that?

Key Points: While most people and organizations look at critics as negative people, their role is essential to your future success. You want them on your team. For the Critic role to be most effective, allow the critic to present their concerns only in the last step, after the dream and plans have been formulated.

Summary:

One man Walt Disney not only built one of the most successful US businesses of all time, this one man also left a magical legacy spanning almost a century and will continue for many generations to come.

How has one man accomplished so much? The answer is his Imagineering process his secret for transforming ambitious, creative visions into extraordinary realities. By following Walt Disneys cycle of Dreamer, Realist and Critic, you too will realize a compelling business future and a clear path that will take you there.

Cell Phone in Every Pocket

Cell phones (telefone celular) or mobile phones have had a great impact on the way we lead our lives. In todays world, where change is the only constant, cell phones have been upgraded with lots of new technological features. There has been a tremendous growth in the use of cell phones all over the world and now almost anybody has a personal cell phone. What started in 1960s as a bulky radio communication equipment to be used at the time of war, it has now become a small pocket device with a host of special features specially crafted for the common consumer.

It satisfies more than the basic need to communicate. It is a fashion statement an identity of self and it comes in hundreds of models. Nokia is the worlds largest manufacturer of cell phones followed by Motorola, Samsung, BenQ, Siemens, Panasonic, Philips, LG, NEC, Sony Ericsson, Fujitsu and many more. Apart from calling and texting, cell phones are used for a variety of purposes to keep contact information, to make task lists and daily schedules, browse mobile websites and check emails, play games, watch video clips, listen to music, take pictures and much more. Also cell phones (telefone celular) are easy to integrate with other electronic devices such as notebooks, music systems and etc. With the availability of infrared and Bluetooth technology, a lot of wireless connectivity is possible, such as the use of wireless headphones. Also you can make your phone interact with your notebook without any physical connection.

So, what should you look for while purchasing a new cell phone (telefone celular)? The points to consider include the service plan, price, size, weight, features and technical specifications, compatibility with other devices, display screen resolution and a very important feature: battery life. The latest features offered by cell phones are mega pixel camera, wireless connectivity, modem capability, PC synchronization, music and video player and a lot more.

Today, you can access the World Wide Web through your cell phone (telefone celular). To access internet, your cell phone has to be WAP-enabled. Many companies have created mobile compatible websites that make browsing on your phone very easy. You can get the latest news, stock quotes and game scores on the move through your cell phone. The advanced third-generation phones (3G phones) will soon storm the market and will have high-end graphical display that will enable better video conferencing and gaming experience.

Everybody must follow basic cell phone (telefone celular) etiquettes. Your mobile should not ring in public and disturb others. Sometimes mobile phones ring at odd instances like in movie theatres, weddings, funerals, important official meetings, etc., and to top it the fancy ring tones disturb everybody else around you. You should keep your cell phone in the silent mode when you are at a public place and you must never talk on the cell phone while driving. This might put you in trouble in many countries as there are heavy fines on cell phone misuse.

Cell phones (telefone celular) have become an intrinsic part of our lives that most of us cannot imagine a single day without it. Ring tones, caller tunes, mobile gaming, camera, texting, MMS and video messaging, audio and video recording and viewing are still not enough. New technologies are developed often to reduce size and weight, increase speed, provide a better user interface, to pack more high-definition features into a small pocket device. With GPS (global positioning system) capability, cell phones have become so useful that a person carrying one could be located to a range of a few meters, anywhere on the globe! GPS cell phones are important devices in locating users in emergency situations, which allows emergency services to be quickly dispatched.

Focus on Fast Ways to Accomplish 20 Times More

In identifying large opportunities to accomplish 20 times more, nth degree thinking is critical. Nth degree thinking requires you to take one element of your business environment and expand it to extremes . . . both much larger and much smaller than you can possibly imagine could occur. In picking 2,000 percent solution (any way of accomplishing 20 times more with the same, time, effort, and resources) opportunities, you also apply nth degree thinking. To do so you stretch the benefits that stakeholders could gain or lose to their limits.

Here's an example. Assume that a book publisher examines the following areas using the nth degree test for competitive and profit impact: cost of development; cost of production; duration of development; distribution availability in bookstores; amount of publicity; total of positive word-of-mouth comments; pleasure that readers get from the book; what percentage of readers like the book; and pricing. Notice that taking the number of positive word-of-mouth comments to the maximum would tend to overwhelm the other areas. Most publishers, however, don't put much attention in that area. A publisher that did could probably expect to create an overwhelming 2,000 percent solution for its books and its publishing performance.

Time is an important element in focusing your attention because benefits that arrive sooner are surer and more valuable than ones that take longer. Certainly, in choosing between creating a 2,000 percent solution that you can put in place over a few months and one that will require decades, most would choose to pursue first the faster one. An analysis of the present value of the cash flow benefits (discounting the future estimated benefits for inflation and uncertainty) would also validate that choice.

The publisher's most valuable benefit for increased sales is to generate unlimited amounts of positive word of mouth about its books.

Here are some of the possible solutions that the publisher might have identified that help improve other benefits:

-Publish books written by well-regarded celebrities with intriguing new information.

-Authors dedicate royalties to popular charities which will promote the books.

-Companies donate books as part of their product promotions due to the subject matter.

-Tie the book launch timing to a series of related broad-scale media events.

-Create an appealing corporate-sponsored contest related to the theme of the book.

-Provide newsworthy disclosures daily related to the book.

Next, the publisher needs to think about how long it would take to pursue each of these potential solutions. Clearly, there are only a limited number of celebrities who could have the right kind of appeal and would be willing to tailor their books to this purpose and donate their proceeds to charity. One might work on attracting those celebrities forever, and still not gather a single one. Some other approach for adding word-of-mouth interest is needed. This conclusion is particularly true for a small publisher whose market strengths might not be considered to be valuable enough to attract such celebrities.

Many celebrities are already associated with corporations through endorsement contracts and charities through voluntary activities. Having identified which celebrities the publisher wants to pursue, the next step is to research their commitments and connections to corporations and charities. Then, the publisher could see which celebrities could be approached through these intermediaries. The best starting point would probably be a charity. In some cases, the publisher might find that the corporate sponsor and the charity also have a tie. That combination could be even better.

As the publisher, you next need to develop a book concept that fits with all of these circumstances. Then, you should document why the book concept will be very valuable to the celebrity, the charity and the corporate sponsors.

How long would it take to pursue these activities? Not very long if you know what needs to be done, but most publishers don't have the skills in house to advance such an approach into reality. Currently, publishers wait for authors' agents to approach them with such packages . . . and then the acquisition editors choose among the proposals for the most valuable book concepts.

What is required is not unlike what theatrical, motion picture and television producers do. An important step might be to develop a partnership with such a producing organization that could participate in providing some of the other entertainment that could be built around the concept. Our publisher needs to focus attention on either working with people who have these skills and contacts or hiring such people.

No one should build a possible route towards a 2,000 percent solution around one potential set of allies. So our publisher needs to explore associations with other potentially enabling parties, like the celebrities' agents, corporations and nonprofit organizations that sponsor popular events, and entertainment impresarios. Another approach might involve partnering with foundations that wanted to help pioneer this type of nonprofit fund-raising. Such foundations could use their own contacts to help put the necessary talent and skills together.

The publisher should continue to focus on potential solutions until several paths have been found that can be fairly quickly explored and implemented. At that point the publisher will be ready to begin developing a 2,000 percent solution using the materials and questions in the next eight chapters of this workbook.

If the publisher cannot find several paths for word-of-mouth increases that seem to have high potential, the publisher would be wise to shift focus. That publisher should look instead for rapid paths for pursuing some of the other benefits that the nth degree analysis identified as being particularly valuable, such as pleasure that readers get from the book and, how many readers like the book which can help build positive word-of-mouth-based interest.

Do People Use Dialup ISPs? The Phone Is Still Ringing

If you thought dial-up modems were going the way of the Dodo bird, there are still die hard analog modem users out there. Not only are thousands of Internet surfers still using dialup, but businesses often make the best use of dialups for nightly back up purposes.

A recent survey by Pew Internet (http://www.pewinternet.org/PPF/r/184/report_display.asp) provided an insight into the current increasing market of high speed internet access from homes while revealing dialup users loyalty. Close to double the number of Americans who access the internet at their homes say they use broadband connections rather than dial-up, according to data released by the Pew Internet & American Life Project in late April 2006.

Statistics show American adults with broadband access at home increased 40 percent from 60 million to 84 million people in the year leading up to March 2006 - two times the rate of growth from the previous year according to another recently released Pew study. The majority of users surveyed, 62 percent, reported accessing the Internet from some form of high-speed service, while 34 percent stated they still used analog (dialup) modems - and they would continue to use dialup. That translates close to 25 million additional Americans are using broadband in 2006 than in 2005. With figures like that, it might seem like the demise of dial-up is knocking at the industry door.

Don't plan dialup's funeral just yet. Apparently, there is still a market for people who's online needs are easily met with analog modems. The study also revealed that the majority of dial-up users, 60 percent, told the Pew pollsters that they had zero interest in upgrading to broadband. Another barrier analog modem cyber-surfers face: broadband is simply not available in their area. Dialup internet access is often the only choice for rural town internet access.

In addition to availability, the research hypothesizes that many dial-up users reject high-speed Internet services because of having to pay twice the price. The average monthly fee for cable Internet access was $41, DSL service was $38, where dial-up was only $18 per month. For web surfers everywhere, the monthly bill is enough to justify staying on dialup internet access.

With new technology and different business models, dialup providers are offering faster connection speeds than ever. By blocking pop-ups and other advertising images, users can often get the speed they need for email and web browsing. Like many services, it depends on what you want to use it for. Dial-up is still usually not fast enough for those wanting to download 100's of MP3 and movie files.

While it does not presume to be a market for fast growth, the dialup internet providers who understand these user's needs will continue to have a stable businesses for the casual internet user. If getting email and browsing text web sites is main need, dialup may very well be the best solution. An additional phone line is not always needed because the dialup user's habits do not justify it. There are also technologies like catch-a-call which work in tandem with a user's online connection and call waiting to keep from missing calls.

Another market the dialup access providers are pursuing is dialup connections to upload nightly receipts through an internet connection vs. paying long distance charges for a direct connection. While long distance costs have plummeted in the past 10 years, there is still a great advantage to making that local call each night to a dialup ISP instead of paying long distance charges.

With committed customers on the books and new ones dialing into the world wide web, it appears dialup ISPs can keep answering the call for online service in the foreseeable future.

- Find Targeted Users - To find targeted users, as well as to lead the search engine spiders to your website, you will have to find a forum that is dedicated to the niche that your website is servicing. To find a forum in your niche, use the neat free tool at www.link-advantage.com/search .

- Use the Signature Box- Remember to make good use of the signature box (referred to as sig. box) that you will have once your account is created. It is considered smart forum marketing for you to include a direct link to your website in your signature box. Some forums even allow you up to five links, so this will be great if you're promoting just as many websites. Be certain to know that establishing back links to your website will never happen unless you use the Signature Box.

- DO NOT ADVERTISE YOUR LINKS IN YOUR POSTS - sorry for the caps lock, but this point is very, very important. In forum marketing this is a major capital offense on a forum. Forum members will chastise you if you blatantly self-promote your business. It is considered rude to other forum members and is most inappropriate, even more so if you are advertising affiliate links.

- Post meaningful posts and replies - If you are serious about your forum marketing efforts, then initially it would be best to think through what you are going to post so as not to come across as an uninformed idiot. The one big advantage you have from using a forum besides the number of back links to your web site is that you can very quickly establish your credibility as an expert in your niche, but only if you present valid and thought provoking posts. And you should use the same philosophy in your replies too. Another good approach in forum marketing is to post significant replies in meaningful threads. Let your words do the talking, and let them judge your business through the wit and wisdom you share. Your signature box will appear in every post you will publish, anyway. In forum marketing, the trick is to publish as many meaningful and substantial posts as you legitimately can. And as a matter of knowledge, remember that when you make a post or a reply, your signature box will stay in place until the webmaster removes it and this is usually not done very often. So, once you get your signature box up in a post, it is going to serve your forum marketing efforts for a long time to come.

* Be friendly! A key element of forum marketing is to gradually build solid sustainable professional relationships. Such would go a long, long way in building your brand. Participating the correct way in forums will pay big dividends for you in the long run. If you take the attitude that you want to help as many people as possible, then you will gain many new online friends, you will win new customers, and you will even establish a number of new joint venture partners, and it will make your forum marketing efforts a great deal easier, all by just being nice and helpful.

* Learn from your co-members. Forum marketing is all about observation! Keep an open eye about what they need and what they want. Let this aid you in your market studies. Don't be afraid to share your knowledge with other forum members. Once you are able to observe a forums discussion long enough, you will readily see just how badly qualified contributors are really needed. I mean no offense, but there are so many self proclaimed gurus out there in the world of forum marketing that give erroneous and incorrect misleading information, the forums need you to help keep the members well informed. What are you waiting for: join your niche forums today and stat niche marketing your website.

Forum marketing is one of the most powerful internet marketing tactics in existence today - if it is implemented correctly. Keep in mind the things we have discussed above, and for certain, you'll be able to reap a lot of benefits from this technique.

Marketing By Any Other Name...

What does the word "marketing" mean to you? When you say "we need to do some marketing" or "we need a marketing plan," what is the end result you are picturing?

Of all the functions that contribute to business growth, marketing has got to be the least standardized. Not only do the activities associated with marketing vary from company to company, but the purpose and goals of marketing differ widely. In many cases, marketing is a synonym for sales, which in my opinion is one of the biggest strategic mistakes a company can make.

Marketing is not sales. But marketing better be contributing to revenue generation or you're wasting time and money. And probably lots of both.

Here is a simple way to think of marketing: your marketing activities need to make your sales process easier. How they do that will vary depending on your company and market. Product marketing is very different from service marketing. Business to business marketing is very different from business to consumer marketing. Marketing high cost goods and services requires a different approach from marketing commodities.

Even in the same industry and marketplace, how one company markets will differ from the way its competitors market. Just watch a couple of beer or car commercials on TV and you'll see what I mean. This is because company culture, personality, and brand will impact marketing activities and messages.

So, I ask you: Is your marketing program making your sales process easier? Be careful when answering. There are nuances to marketing that are important to consider. Some activities are more direct than others and so are much easier to gauge. An example is direct response marketing. Another is e-commerce web sites with incorporated shopping carts. In both cases there is a clear link to the sales side. This type of marketing can be very easily quantified and its impact on sales can be accurately measured.

Some activities, though, are more subtle. Things that get your company better known in the marketplace will help the sales process, but not as clearly as direct response or "click here to buy" activities. They are qualitative in impact but no less important.

Effective public relations, for example, will certainly influence your target market by keeping your name top of mind in the people you want to buy from you. This type of activity, of course, is nowhere near as measurable as more direct things. Does this mean you shouldn't do it? Absolutely not!! It does mean, however, that you need to stay awake and find ways to gauge how successful these more subtle activities are in making the sales process easier.

Here's the bottom line. Take time to clearly and accurately define what marketing means specifically for your company, and define how it can make the sales process easier. Don't just accept any published definitions, no matter how exalted their sources.

How To Overcome "Information Overload"

Cast your mind back, before you first decided throw your hat in the ring to create an income with Internet Marketing. Like most of us, all you started with was an open Page on your desk top monitor, an empty email Inbox, and a strong desire to make money on the Internet

Using the age-old Trial and Error system, perhaps you began to discover a whole menu of self help how to e-zines and must have reports. For most, they simply contained similar information on Internet Marketing served up as a different dish, but to be fair many did warn you of the dreaded Information Overload, with lurid stories of empty bank balances , maxed out credit cards, and minds full of irrelevant information, and ending up no nearer to their goal than when they first started. Maybe you thought to yourselfHow can these chumps fall into such a stateand end up with no success?,

Fast forward, - Your email inbox is overflowing with the latest Guru promotions, that you must download immediately or you will crash and burn!!. With one hand they offer Freebies and Gifts of all sizes while the other hand tries to open your wallet. As you struggle to resist and pry their fingers away, you discover there are three other sets already in there!!!

Just as you vow never to download another product, another tasty titbit arrives and takes you on another fantasy journey of wealth and success. You discover that you are downloading projects and information on Internet Marketing techniques that you already bought months ago, and didnt have the time to read

You are now struggling to pay of your plastic, while juggling your monthly outgoings. Your mind feels as soft as a marshmallow, full with so many strategies and formulas that you just cant seem to format any of them. And your still chasing that one Secret thats going to make the big break through to your Internet Marketing Success. If you recognise that profile? Welcome to Information Overload

Some clever or lucky people will never have undergo this part of the education curve, but for us mere mortals, it seem we have to suffer before we are able to see the light at the end of the tunnel Maybe you have reached the stage where you have to say STOP I want to get off!!!

This is what you have to do. Focus on exactly what you want and ignore what you dont want. Forget the million dollar programs that promise Free Money with no impute. Thats dreamtime. Concentrate on Reality! Choose one program or product, and then decide how you are going to market it.

You may already have this knowledge, stored away in the numerous reports and ezines gathering cyber dust on your system, but heres a quick synopsis of what is needed.

Take Paper and a Magnifying glass. If you hold the glass in the same place between the paper and the sun soon you will have a raging fire. But a moving class will not even make a scorch mark!

Open a Folder on your desk-top called Working Folder and place in it only the product and marketing tools that you are currently using. Keep it un-clutted and only add other tools as and when required

Focus on your chosen advertising method, until you're "comfortable" with it - and have sufficient experience with it. Only then should you consider moving on to the next technique (trying to "master" and apply too many techniques at once will only lead to more frustration!).

You may find that one or two advertising methods are enough to supply you with all the traffic your business needs - if not, you can continue mastering and applying the techniques of your choice one-by-one until you've reached your desired level of traffic and income.

The Internet is simply a World Wide Market place. You have to get your information out there and show them the way to your store. You need to focus on Quick Cash and Long Term Wealth Strategy

This is not the place to go into details on all the Internet Marketing strategies that are available to you. Theres nothing new in the above recommendations and Im sure you have a kaleidoscope of information on each subject. Go look for it, or else use the net to acquire this information.

Or else check the July edition the wealthbuilder-Bulletinboad, or among the back issues. Im sure you will find some essential Internet Marketing Tools there to help you

The point I am making is forget all the distractions and focus on one product and the means to promote it to billions of potential customers on the World Wide Web, and I promise you, like the Paper and Glass theory.you will succeed

To Your Success

11 Key Steps to Developing an Effective Advertising Plan- from a South African Perspective

Once you have defined the target market, you can begin to design an advertising message and choose the media to transmit it. The advertisement should be built around a unique selling position, a key consumer benefit of the product or service. Generally a good advertisement should attract attention, develop interest, describe the product or service, convince the reader and get action. You can increase your adverts impact by applying the following 11 principles.

1. Design the message to reflect the image of the firm.

2. Plan the advert in advance to ensure a consistent appearance and message, the same borders, print styles and colours help customers recognise the company advert at a glance.

3. Use attention-getting techniques, value packed words and testimonials from customers.

4. Translate the products or services attributes into a specific consumer benefit, saving money or performing distasteful tasks etc.

5. Layout should be simple, the design should not detract from the message.

6. Message should be short, direct and built around a single idea.

7. Choose colours carefully.

8. Headline should grab the reader, 80% of customers don't read beyond the headline.

9. Use illustrations that complement the product or service, photographs or drawings of the product or service often attract more attention than words do.

10. Identify the company clearly, the company name, logo, address, telephone number etc.

11. Include the price, this is one of the most important considerations for many customers.

Be Safe Dodge the Most Common RV Claims

Avoid becoming a statistic for RV insurance companies.

As co-owner of the largest RV insurance agency in the nation, Ive slogged through my share of claims data and anecdotal claims evidence. So, what can you do to avoid becoming statistical data for insurance companies? For starters, you can take a closer look at what RV claims adjusters tell me are their most common claims events.

RV Hazard #1

Well begin with what I believe to be the most dangerousyet hiddendanger that lurks behind that innocuous-looking refrigerator in your RV. Did you know that fires behind refrigerators account for countless claims each year? One of our insurance companies recently reported that they dealt with more than 450 cases of this type of claim last year.

Have propane lines checked, or do it yourself.

Avoid this life-threatening hazard by having all your propane lines checked by an authorized RV repair establishment each year. If youre a do-it-yourselfer, then you can perform this simple check on your own with an LP gas detector kit. Simply apply the solution to the fittings and youll know if you have a leak.

RV Hazard #2

Have you ever felt like ducking as you approach a low bridge? It should come as no surprise to you that another common type of claim is collision with overhangs, including tree branches and service station overhangs. Do you know the height of your RV to the highest point, which includes the air conditioning unit? You should. Additionally, many times RVers tend to back up their units without an additional pair of eyes to guide them.

Measure your RV and know its height.

I have a suggestion: Measure your RV or peruse the product specifications included with your RV to establish the total height of the RV. Next, write this number on a card or sticky note and post it somewhere within reach. Whenever you back up, have another pair of eyes guiding you so you dont collide with a low-hanging branch.

RV Hazard #3

Did you remember to retract the stuff? Lets talk about retractable steps, TV antennas, awnings and the like. Most of our time spent on the road is in a typical car, and every day we hop in and drive away without thinking. Your RV is a complex piece of machinery, so treat it as such.

Do a walk-around before turning the key.

Most private pilots will do a final trip around the airplane just before getting in and closing the door. I recommend that you take one final lap around your RV or trailer before leaving the campsite. Furthermore, most pilots use a checklist to ensure they dont miss a thing. Be an excellent RV pilot and use a checklist; it will help you remember things you could forget, especially when youre in a hurry.

Follow these guidelines and you can decrease the chances that youll become a statistic for your RV insurance company, and youll avoid forking over money for your deductible. Please feel free to contact RV America Insurance with any questions you have regarding your RV insurance policy.

Has Technolgy Actually Made Us Worse Off?

I will give you time to ponder the title question as I give you two examples. Heart disease and heart related problems are one of the leading causes of death in this country. Everyday in offices, homes, planes, on the road, etc. people are suffering heart attacks and inevitably requiring someone to call 000 to organise an Ambulance. In many instances due to traffic, Ambulance shortages and system inefficiencies, paramedics are arriving at a patient’s side to late to prevent major damage or death. In fact in the US, nearly 80 percent of all sudden cardiac arrests occur at home and fewer than 5 percent of those victims survive. In the market place now is a product called a Home Heart Start Defibrillator. This amazing product allows virtually any user to restart a person’s heart that may have stopped by talking a person clearly through the process. It even checks to see whether the electrical pads are in the right place and if the person actually needs the process at all. It even coaches a person trough CPR.

On the other hand we in Australia and indeed the Western World at large is going through an obesity epidemic starting with kids as young as 3. Why are we going through such an epidemic and why is the problem getting worse? Well we drive to school and the shops instead of riding or walking. We watch TV and chat and play games on the computer or games console for entertainment instead of exercising and playing outside. We have less time to cook because of our schedules so we eat more pre-prepared, highly processed and fast food. Basically we have automated so many our tasks because of the Internet and technological devices we have created, that our daily manual labour tasks are now minimal.

In many Universities in the 70s they used to teach students that in the future they would be working less because of technology and processes that were now human operated would be automated. Unfortunately they were only half right, we have automated most of those processes but we are working more than ever.

Now given all this due you think we are better or worse off than generations previous? The easy answer would probably be that is depends what you are talking about. We have made things more efficient, we have more entertainment options, medical science is able to cure more ailments, we can travel most places easily and we are able to access and information and communicate better. However as a society we also are now fatter, less active, more depressed and lonely, communicate face to face less, in more debt and if trends continue will have a shorter average life span to our preceding generation.

The saying “you are here for a good time not a long time” would suggest we are better off now but the fact that only a generation ago, terms like stress disorder, ADD, hyper obesity and road rage were rarely used if at all. I think the problem lies in the fact that over time, we as human beings became dependent on instant gratification in all aspects of our life. Whether it is entertainment, communication, travel or even curing a disease. At some point we had to invent the machines and systems to achieve this instant gratification and that would have taken hard work and maybe even a bit of suffering to achieve that goal. This sort of human struggle to achieve something is what many believe brings a fulfilling life. Maybe if we as a society struggled to achieve something for future generations to enjoy then not only can we overcome some of the problems our society has but we can also enjoy the technology we have because of generations past without it being detrimental to our lives.

TILL NEXT TIME.....

Free Image Hosting Service

Image hosting is a part of most web hosting services, providing hosting solutions for images instead of words. Most web hosts that host web pages do allow image hosting as well, but most times you have to pay for those services, or of those that are offered with no charges, you are limited to the size or quality of images you can submit. Free image hosting however is not a faux promise, neither is it too good to be true.

Why may image hosting be necessary? Sometimes a person might wish to publish a web page, but may find that his server at home or at the point of production is not adequate enough to keep the page running on the internet in order that the published web page is to be continuously displayed, the server through which it is published must also run continuously on the internet. Also, a server also has to be able to support high traffic flowing to the websites that it connects to the Internet what would be the point of publishing a page without the intension of having people visit the page? If the server is shut off, then the page also goes offline and becomes inaccessible to the public. Web hosting is the service provided to persons who wish to have their web pages up on the internet at all times but who do not have the means or support to do so on their own. Web hosting services may be offered free of charge or they may require a service fee, but almost all web hosting packages include free image hosting services.

Image hosting is a big industry today, drawing almost 90% of the audience market. In fact, almost every site wants to publish a video advertisement or a music introduction in an attempt to increase his market size. Most sites that provide free image hosting services however will limit the amount or size of images that you can post. For example, if you have a site that is dedicated to providing ring tones, music videos, large amounts of photographs or any other image in very large amounts or with very big file attachments, you will not be allowed to publish via the free image hosting service. On the other hand, if you wish to post images on a blog site or any other site with size restrictions, then free image hosting is your solution.

Kenya The Land Where Safari Was Born

As a child, Africa fascinated me - a land where the wild and exotic animals of storybooks and zoos roamed free on the plains. And where Kenya was always the quintessential home of the safari.

Many visits later I'm no less enthralled by this region of dramatic contrasts, and remarkable wildlife amid stunningly beautiful and varied landscapes that are still unencumbered by the trappings of man. And little compares to nights filled with the primal sounds of the bush - the hoots and laughs of hyenas, the grumble of distant lions and the snorts of a hippo.

Kenya, the land where safari was born, is also known as the cradle of mankind - evidence of some of the earliest human settlements has been found here, suggesting that it was the birthplace of humanity from which descendents moved out to populate the world. However, it's the boundless wilderness and big game of this region that has long attracted adventure seekers from all over the globe. No other African country can boast such an incredible range of scenery, unique geographical features and species.

A safari in Kenya is an extraordinary holiday for any wildlife lover, no matter your budget or the level of adventure you're looking for. There's no end of things to explore; from the highlands of central Kenya to the great Rift valley; from the elephants of Amboseli wallowing in a small watering hole, to the vast shores of Lake Victoria, the second largest lake in the world; and from the spectacular views of Africa's highest point, Mount Kilimanjaro, down to a coast of shimmering white sands along the Indian Ocean.

Soak up the wonders of nature while camping under the stars out in the bush, hundreds of miles away from civilization, or relax in luxury at one of the lodges scattered throughout the many game reserves and national parks of this magical country.

Whether you're walking, driving, or even bobbing your way across the plains atop a camel, you'll discover the scents, sounds, and footprints of the bush, as you enjoy the sight of a hyena at full gallop, weaving behind the adrenaline-powered run of a gazelle, or a mighty battle as buffalo bulls fight over territory.

If you venture on a Kenyan safari during July or August, perhaps the best way to check out the wildlife is by hot air balloon. Few places offer a better vantage point from which to witness the amazing phenomenon that is the annual wildebeest migration across the plains of the Maasai Mara, when millions of hooves thunder northwards in search of sweeter grazing during the drier months in the south.

The Maasai Mara Reserve, 200 sq miles of rolling hills, woods and acacia trees watered by the Mara and Talek rivers, opens onto the Serengeti plains of Tanzania. Home to the famously independent and traditional herdsmen, no trip to Kenya would be complete without a visit to Masai Mara. They regard themselves not just as residents of this area but as much a part of the life of the land, as the land is part of their lives.

A visit to Kenya is a veritable life-changing experience filled with an abundance of wildlife, including elephants, zebras, black rhino, lions, leopards and various antelope. One visit alone will be enough to make you understand Earnest Hemmingway's words, "unknowable, unimaginable, unbelievable... and completely unforgettable.

How To Become Skilled At Flirting

The topic of flirting has been the subject of a number of scientific studies. In fact research has shown that flirting is done in every culture around the world, regardless of race or language. It is first important to realize that flirting is a basic form of behavior. By flirting, humans show that they are interested in specific partners, and if they did not do this, there would not be a way for humans to reproduce. Consequently, the human species would soon cease to exist. To flirt properly, it is first important to know the best places to flirt.

In our society of today, flirting at the wrong time or place can be inappropriate. It is important to know when flirting is a good idea. Perhaps one of the best places for flirting is parties. In addition to parties, any type of social event of celebration is generally acceptable when it comes to flirting. More often than not, flirting is not only acceptable at these events, but it will often be expected. These events are excellent places to find potential dates. While many people realize this, few understand why. The reason why parties are great places to flirt is because of a process called "cultural remission."

Cultural remission can be defined as an environment where rules and restrictions that would normally be placed on members of society are relaxed for a certain period of time. However, this does not mean there are no rules. Unfortunately, many people find this out the hard way at celebration at Mardi Gras, where getting to wild can get you arrested and thrown in jail. However, flirting in ways that would normally be restricted in everyday life would be allowed at parties or other celebrations. It should not be surprising to note that alcohol and flirting are intimately connected.

The reason for this is because alcohol is the substance of choice at places where flirting is commonly allowed. Some of these places are parties, pubs, clubs, bars, and even restaurants. A number of studies have shown that not only is alcohol connected to flirting, but it actually makes you more effective at flirting when you are using it. However, you must not go overboard when you are using alcohol, or you could end up in serious trouble. Another great place for flirting are colleges and universities.

eCommerce Posting for Microsoft Dynamics GP overview for web developer

If you are integrating Microsoft Great Plains with you existing e-commerce front application, you are more likely deploying Microsoft Dynamics GP eConnect. This tool allows you to create or update master records: customer, address, credit card info; also you can create or update work documents Sales Order Processing (SOP) order or invoice. If needed, eConnect allows you to work with the majority of GP master records and documents: purchasing, payroll, inventory control and other modules (in some cases, eConnect doesnt work Invoicing module, for example, but it is not heavily used in ecommerce automation anyway). Some ecommerce integration models require automatic posting this is not possible if you use eConnect only. In this small article we describe Autoposting server technology:

Microsoft Dexterity posting engine. The heart of Microsoft Great Plains is well structured and allows Dexterity developer to submit the batch for posting and trigger posting process. In theory it looks nice, however if you are .Net C# or VB developer it doesnt look as the programming guideline for you: Microsoft Dynamics GP Dexterity is proprietary tool and it requires years of software development experience to program such intrinsic processes as instructions to post the batch

Posting Server approach. Autoposting server is Dexterity customization, which checks newly entered records in approved batches table it checks the table every few seconds and if the new record is there it initiates the posting process for you. All you need to do is to place approved batch records into the status table. Posting Server works with almost all the types of posting batches, however the most popular are Sales Order Processing batches, where we post SOP invoices

Other eCommerce integration options. If you need very light version of eCommerce integration, then you may decide to utilize stored procedures, placing Sales Orders into SOP10100 and SOP10200 tables, especially when you do not charge taxes and all your items are non-inventoried ones. This simplification might be efficient in light weight ecommerce scenarios. The reason, why we recommend you to create Sales Orders and not Invoices you should avoid complex GL Sales invoice distribution records. If you need to create records for inventory items, then we recommend you not to do automatic allocation it might be difficult to program inventory allocation in SQL scripts you can always do order allocation in GP later on

Why Testing & Tracking On The Internet Can Save You Thousands

The key to increasing profits and lowering costs over time is continually testing one advertisement against the other one offer against another one headline against another and so on until you find the best performing piece.

This process is called testing and tracking and is one of the most critical components of marketing because it is a scientific method of discovering which elements of your marketing produce the greatest response.

One of the advantages that marketing on the Internet has over other advertising mediums is the speed of tracking response from marketing tests.

When marketing on the Internet you can track the response of your marketing efforts in real-time. This means that you can quickly gauge the success of the marketing test, implement the next changes immediately, and take it live instantly.

So, not only can you quickly implement new changes, but you can do so cost-effectively because you dont need to spend thousands of dollars to see the results of a test.

Then, when youve found the highest performing offer, sales piece or headline, you can roll it out offline, in magazines, newspapers and any other mediums.

By testing and tracking on the Internet first you ensure you get the highest return on investment for the lowest possible cost.

Designing For Web Browsers

Web design is always a challenge: new web browsers make website owners to turn to web designers to redesign their web pages; different web browsers display websites in different ways, leading to the same problem: redesign. This is costly, needs time and if the job is not done right, the release of a new web browser may lead to the same trouble. Moreover: a non-standard-compliant website is not a user friendly website (obviously!) and it might damage your business, by driving your visitors away.

To avoid the inconvenience, ask your web developer to create an all browsers compatible website.

Design for All the Web Browsers

Its advisable that you have your website designed according to the World Wide Web Consortiums accessibility standards. These standards were created to improve user experience and Internet functionality. The most popular web browsers are Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Safari (for Mac) and Konqueror (Linux). Once upon a time there was Netscape ruling over the Web. Right now Internet Explorer (IE 6) is the most popular browser, but Firefox is winning territory fast! However, lets not forget the PDAs! If you have a website designed according to the accessibility standards, your site will stay functional in the future.

As IE 6 is not standards compliant, you might want to try designing for Firefox first. Preferred coding is XHTML, but HTML 4.01 will do too. When your web page looks great in Firefox, you may start editing it for Internet Explorer. Then validate your markup. Dont write on your website best viewed with Mozilla Firefox or Best viewed with IE, etc. Its you who should have a browser compatible website and not your visitors who should change their browsers to be able to see your website. Write a best viewed with on your landing page and you are going to drive customers away. User-friendly websites are best viewed with any browser.

Design for the Future

Standard compliant web pages are the pages of the future. The Internet is constantly evolving and the future belongs to quality websites. Now its the right time to start optimizing your websites. If you are a web developer take your job seriously and design for the future. This is how you are going to build up a good name and get more clients.

Webmasters are advised to support the best viewed with any browser campaign. By creating an all browsers compatible website you make a promise of quality and a commitment to excellence.

To verify your any browser compatibility you might want to try the free services provided by AnyBrowser.com. Here youll find a site viewer, html validation tools and many useful resources that will help you create the perfect website.

Other Technical Considerations

When you use non-HTML elements, remember that they are not compatible with all browsers, so provide alternatives. That works especially for Flash sites. Ive seen a lot of to view this web page you need Macromedia Flash on websites. Do I really need it? Make me! Well, actually they cannot make me. Why? I can leave as fast as I came. I browse browse away!

Helpful Tips for Church Marketing

In recent years, churches have recognized the need to promote themselves in our competitive world. This is because they have to maintain an edifice and a support as well. They need to attract more church goers in order to support themselves. Nowadays, there a lot of things that people can do other than putting on their Sunday best and going to church. They could go to a mall, see a movie, go to the beach or watch a baseball game. Church marketing has to deal with the problem of decreasing church attendance.

Churches cannot pay their expenses by just offering their services for weddings, Christenings, and funerals. A large amount of money has to be spent to heat and to light a church all the year round. Any structural damage to a church will require a fundraising campaign. There have been many attempts to modernize church marketing and bring the church into the 21st century. The clergy have to relate to the younger generation in order for the churches to be sustainable. A lot of churches have web sites these days, in an attempt to engage people in what they are doing. Some clergy employ professional web designers and promotional experts for church marketing purposes.

People can sometimes criticize a church for being outdated, but a church can also be derided at other times for being too trendy. Some churches have put on folk evenings and pop concerts. A church hall is often attached to the church, as a money making opportunity. Then arguments usually break out about the appropriate use of the church hall. It's a shame that the world of commerce has to infiltrate the quest for spirituality but these are the harsh realities and church marketing is needed.

A modern trend that some churches use is to have boards outside the church with witty homilies to amuse passersby and church goers. Some of these are quite clever and some are cringe worthy. Some churches use modern hymns as an alternative to traditional favorites, while others publish newsletters to inform the community of the work of the church. Church marketing works best when it involves social issues. The clergy need to convince people that the church is still relevant today.

They key is communication and perhaps more radical ideas are needed. For instance, in the UK, the Archbishop of York has recently completed a week of sleeping in a tent, pitched in the church. He also fasted for the week as part of a campaign to stop the fighting in Iraq. Some members of the clergy might not agree with his actions but it certainly worked as a piece of PR. Church marketing has to reach out and address world issues and not just focus its attention to repairing the leaks in the church roof.

Web Design and Development Buyers Guide

Getting Started:

When developing a website for your business there are many important issues which need to be considered. I have made a list of recommendations about many of these issues so that you can evaluate your current project needs and how to prepare for them. Your website is by far the most important aspect of your business marketing. It is the face of your company which people from all across the world are going to see. People base their opinion on your company based on the professionalism of your website. If it looks cheap and amateur, people will simply think you have a poor business model and you arent making enough money to afford a professional web presence. But if your site looks incredible, your potential customers will feel comfortable with you and give you instant credibility. Studies have shown that a companys website design has more influence on a potential customer than the products, functionality or written content within the website.

Preparing Project Requirements

To start preparing for your project, first you must create a project requirement document for your exact needs of your project. It is extremely important to be as detailed as possible when creating these specs because the future of your project depends on it. Many times the company or individual developing your website design or web application does not take the time to help you build a spec, especially if you dont pay them a consulting fee. If you have the budget to pay for project consulting we highly recommend that you do. It could save you thousands of dollars and months of wasted time. Most companies will even refund your consulting fees once your project.

However if you feel that you dont need any consulting and you can write your project requirements on your own, then make sure you are as detailed as possible. If you forget something it could cost you much more to have it added later. If you would like some documents which can guide you through writing your project requirements please ask your web development company to provide them to you.

Also, you must write everything down in a word document format or in an email. This is very important especially towards the end of your project when testing begins to see if all the requirements have been met. If its not on your sheet, there is a great chance it wont get done, and youll have a real problem convincing a company to do any extras for free unless its something small.

Choosing Your Developer or Web Company

Once you have your requirements the next step is to choose your developer or development team. This is a very crucial decision which must be well thought out. Many people and small companies shop for these developers based on price alone. This is a big mistake. These low cost options tend to be college students, low cost offshore developers in India and other parts of the world, local web companies with weak portfolios, and large cookie cutter developers like www.register.com, www.networksolutions.com, or www.yahoo.com.

College students generally only charge $10 to $30 per hour and have very limited skills and experience. Anyone who charges this amount generally does so because they have no real experience and will take anything they can get their hands on. College students only know the basics and usually try to cut and paste their way through the project using free scripts and templates. The result is a website or application that doesnt do what its supposed to do and looks extremely amateur. Also college students generally never finish on time, or at all. They are not dedicated to your project because most of their time is spent doing homework, going to class, socializing, or working at a part time job. These delays can cost your business heavily. Also many times desperate college students will agree to take a project which is more than they can handle. They try to get a friend to help them or do it themselves. Once they fail, obviously you most likely wont be getting your money back. I have heard stories like these 1000 times over.

Another cheap option to avoid is low cost offshore developers. You will generally get hundreds of emails per year from these companies offering to work for $2 per hour up to $30 per hour. 99.9% of the time you are guaranteed to be disappointed. Most of the time the offers are coming from India, China, Russian, Ukraine, or Mexico, so please try to avoid them at all costs. They often reply to any ad posted on websites like www.elance.com, www.craigslist.org or www.guru.com. They usually reply to hundreds of ads per day in hopes that someone will actually give them a project, and then its just a game of roulette after that. Many times they will supply you with a stolen portfolio of completed work, or a bunch of promises to give you the highest quality, blah- blah- blah, etc... I have rarely seen anyone successfully do a project off shore without jumping through some major hoops to do it. The time differences, the language barriers, and the lack of security alone should push you away from these options. Many times they are just college students as well, and they cant provide you with what you need even if they wanted to.

The 3rd option to avoid like the plague is using cookie cutter companies. These large Do it yourself corporations butcher the web. Companies like www.register.com and www.networksolutions.com and www.fortunecity.com and many others, will offer you to buy a hosted solution. They offer you the wonderful opportunity to build your own site for only $250 or something, and host it with them for a year for only $20. This is a joke and all too many people have fallen for this. When you are surfing the web and find a site that looks like a kindergartener built it, this is usually one of the do-it-yourself websites that some poor sucker purchased. There is no functionality, there is no design template offered that is worth a look, and there is no way a real company or anyone serious about setting up a legitimate webpage would ever consider using this service. However I can see how many people have decided to buy these sites. They tried to use a college kid, and then tried some Indian offshore developer, and then tried their local low budget web or hosting company, and finally came to the conclusion that all of the quality was pretty similar to that of the cheap cookie cutter corporations. So they fall for the marketing, and buy the cheapo template website and now their stuck looking unprofessional and their potential clients wont take them serious.

Now that youve been informed of all the bad apples out there, lets take a look at the companies out there who actually decided to take this route, then we will look at some companies who took the high road and made a professional site. Please go to www.webpagesthatsuck.com and take a look at all the worthless sites that are out there. This site is dedicated to convincing people how important your web presence is and what people will think of you when you publish low cost amateur sites.

Once youre done, lets take a look at a few sites which were done professionally. I will use a few examples of websites our company has developed, and to be fair a few other random sites other companies developed. Take a look at www.dreamsoft.us, this site is very well put together with great use of colors, great structural layout, plenty of relevant content, reasonable use of flash and 3d, and overall you get a professional look and feel when youre on this website. Here is a www.completebirkenstock.com , nothing really fancy, very conservative use of flash, but yet its very professional and easy to look at with a top notch shopping system. Here is a site from one of our competitors www.spiketv.com. As you can see they have done an excellent job with flash animation and 3D graphics, as well as lots of content and functionality. In my opinion its one of the best sites around, and I commend them on their good work. Many people cannot afford this type of work, but it shows true quality. Buying web development and services is like buying a car. There are Cadillacs, Ferraris, Old Clunkers, and everything in between. The key is to find whats best for your needs and taking the proper steps to get what youre looking for.

Negotiating Your Costs:

Now that youve chosen a few potential developers, its time to negotiate a fair price for your project, this is a very important step. Generally for descent work you might be able looking at paying an average of $60-$300 USD per hour. This depends on the company and the difficulty of the work you are requesting. It is very possible to get the same quality for $60 USD per hour as it is for $300 USD per hour, so you want to look around and bargain shop. This isnt easy; you need to understand that many of these companies have new projects coming across their desks everyday. And many times these companies spend countless hours consulting and estimating without ever getting the project they spent so much time on. There are tons of freelancers out there who dont want to estimate their own projects so they go out and bid it out to a few web companies who will put together a nice presentation and detailed estimation, which they take to their clients and pretend its their own. This must happen 1000 times per day all over the world, its one of the oldest tricks in the book. So dont be surprised if your potential development company asks for a small consulting fee to see if youre serious. Usually it will be $50-$2000 depending on how large or small your project is, and its a good idea for you to pay the fee. It shows that youre serious, and the web development company will take you much more serious and it will probably lower you additional costs in the long run.

Once you give your project requirements document to the developers, they will begin to dig through it. They will most likely send you some questions to answer to give them a better idea of what youre looking for. Having a detailed requirements document is extremely important and can lower the cost of your project tremendously. And make sure you have it all written down properly, dont think you can just call and tell them over the phone. Web developers hate when a client calls and just starts rambling on and on about what they want changed, so if you have any changes make sure to send it in an email or word document and clearly label it. This can help you avoid any disputes later on down the line, and trust me there are always disputes over what the original requirements were and how they were conveyed. Dreamsoft.us built a huge project management and document management system called Projectpro.us just to avoid these conflicts.

As far as pricing goes, dont be fooled or intimidated by hourly rates. Its not as simple as it seems. Just because company X charges $100 per hour doesnt make them the wrong company to use, the same as company Z charging $40 per hour doesnt make them your best bet. For the exact same project, company X might bill you for 25 hours, while company Z might bill you for 100 hours. So for the same project company X charges $2500 while company Z charges $3000, yet company Z looks more attractive because of their low hourly billing structure. Dont judge your potential developers by their hourly rates; you could drop a reasonable offer just because of some unnecessary sticker shock.

Monthly Website Maintenance:

Also before choosing your developers you should consider the ongoing costs. These can REALLY add up. If youre going to be paying maintenance on some web program, SEO campaign, or hosting, just make sure its reasonable. Most web companies are pretty lenient about these fees, but expect to pay something. Also if you feel you wont need a lot of updates on a regular basis you can ask them to modify their monthly options to something smaller for your specific needs. Generally your monthly maintenance needs will be around $350 USD per month and up.

Web Hosting:

THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. Hosting is by far one of your most important issues as your company grows. At first its always easy to just take the cheapest hosting company in town, or the most well known. This is the recipe for disaster, almost every single time. DO NOT host with the major hosting companies like Godaddy.com, Register.com, Yahoo.com, or Networksolutions.com. Generally when you register your website you do it through a huge company like these, and then you sign up for the 1 year of hosting, and the ecommerce package. These solutions are only for individuals who dont know what they are doing and buy it out of convenience and low cost.

As your company grows, you will need to add email addresses, add functionality, add software, change server requirements, change passwords, gain particular server access, and many other things. These big low cost hosting providers wont even pick up the phone, if you can find a number to call. If there is a problem, it takes 2 weeks to 2 months before they can resolve it. And when you try to switch to another provider they will ignore you as long as they can before giving in to your request. They have millions of clients, only paying them a few bucks per year, so you can see they arent going to waste a few bucks having a customer service rep or technician help you out in a jam. And when your company goes offline because of some technical failure, not even the president of the United States can get these people on the phone. Meanwhile, your company suffers, and while people are trying to view your site, they see Page not found.

Another problem is when you add some new functionality to your website, and it requires that the server needs to run a certain program. Although it might take 5 minutes to install it they will bill you for 2.5 hours (because they have minimums) and they know you cant do anything about it.

I suggest using someone reliable, someone local, someone you know and trust. This is truly one of the most important aspects of having a web presence is making sure you have reliable hosting and registration.

Registration:

Dont forget, when registering your domain name; make sure the administrative contact is in your name with your email and your contact info. Dont let web or hosting companies hold you hostage. If the administrative contact information is in their name, they have total control of your site. I have seen this done once before with a fairly good sized web development and hosting company in Chicago. An acquaintance of our CEO had their site developed by a local web company. This acquaintance then asked our CEO if we could do some Search Engine Marketing for them. We agreed to the task, but when we went to get access to the site from the local web company, they decided that they were going to take this marketing project and refused to grant us access. Our customer called the web company and asked them to switch over the hosting rights to us, and they refused. Although this is illegal for this company to do this, there is nothing our client could do. The domain name was registered originally by this web company, and they kept the registration in their name (which is also illegal). But it takes 6 months and tons of court costs to get it back, so our client had no choice but to stay with the ones that refused to let him leave. This happens on a daily basis and the best way to avoid it is to use someone you trust.

As far as the cost, it ranges from $250 per year, up to $5000 depending on what programs your running and how much space youre using. 99% of sites usually only need the basics which is around $250- $350 per year.

Development Contracts:

Once youve made all your important decisions and found the right company to do your project, make sure you get everything in writing. And you must make sure that there is an attachment to the contract specifying the exact amount of time until the completion of your project, the total cost, and the project requirements. This will ensure that you get exactly what you paid for, and get it on time. Make sure to have a signed copy for yourself and also make sure the start date is clearly stated.

During Development:

Now that your project has begun, there is no time to relax yet. Although everything is clearly stated in your project requirements sheet, you must provide the developers with the necessary materials they need in a timely fashion. I am telling you this from a web developers standpoint. When a project starts, the development company has allocated tasks for its individual developers just for your project. So if you wait 2 weeks to send materials, then the company must allocate other tasks for their developer to keep him busy earning money for the company. This can cause major delays in your projects completion time. The materials you need to have prepared are images, content, and anything else which the web developers cannot provide for you. Please understand that developers cannot read your mind, dont just expect them to just miraculously build what you foresee in your mind without some direction from you.

Be attentive and always check your email. Web developers will send you updates and have multiple questions, sometimes on a daily basis, so you need to make sure and not neglect them. Sometimes they hit a brick wall, and cannot move forward without your comments, especially during web application programming or design. Many times if you dont respond within a day or so they will just keep trudging ahead and many times in the wrong direction. Then when you tell them to erase all the work and do something different they will get pretty angry. So to avoid any conflict try to check your email at least a few times each day, especially during business hours. Always send your responses by email. I cannot stress enough how irritating it is to have a client calling over the phone to tell you everything. This just makes the developer have to write everything down and there can be errors using this method. If you must talk on the phone, then call the developers, talk to them, then go back and recap the discussion on an email so they know what you want.

Project Completion:

Once your project is near completion, you need to start testing. Dont be angry to find small glitches or bugs, this is very common. You might find links which dont work, images misplaced, spelling errors, or other small inconveniences, but this is common when the project is coming to a close. The developers will wrap everything up and make everything look good, so dont get discouraged. When they tell you its finished and you still find something, dont get angry, just let your developers know and they will surely fix it quickly. Usually these little things take only a few minutes to fix and developers overlook them because they know its just something minor and they usually concentrate on the major functions. Some companies have testers which do quality assurance testing for the client, but these are only the larger companies, and even they miss things occasionally.

Project Payment:

The web development standard for any project is 50% up front and 50% at the end. In my opinion over years in this industry its truly unfair that the web development company gets paid in this fashion. But at the same time paying slowly via milestones is also a pain in the rear. Now for larger companies the 50/50 deal is fine, but for small 5 employee IT companies this can be life or death. I remember years ago when we first started we couldnt eat if a client decided to pay late, or of the project dragged on for weeks past the due date because our clients werent responsive enough, or they haggled over tiny details to delay the payment.

In my opinion no matter what size the company is, make sure to pay when the project is near completion, dont drag it out, its not fair to the developers who worked so hard to get you what you want. The margins in the web business arent what they used to be and some of these small fry companies may be doing great work, but they get killed on delay of payments. We recommend paying via bank wire to all our clients, and we are a company of over 40 developers.

Conclusion:

To wrap things up, I wrote this article in hopes of helping people understand how the web development and web design industry works. Most people who are getting ready to start a web project should read this, a lot of the information you read here you wont find anywhere else. It gives you an inside look at how a web project actually gets done, and hopefully you will avoid the pitfalls by having a better understanding of the process.
